Best View of Seoul?

It has to be one of the most, if not the most frequent question we get here at DARAMJI:

“Where can I get the BEST view of Seoul?”

Of course, there can’t possibly be one right answer; and we’d say Seoul has its own charm wherever you look. And yet, more often than not, we know where to start when we get asked the question by our guests – somewhere high up, where you can get a full, unobstructed view of the city. But it’s not just about getting to the top of the tallest skyscraper in town! Here are a few of DARAMJI’s choice spots – with a view!

1. Restaurant with a view – Bellino

Embracing Gyungbokgun Palace and the Blue House from the north, Bukaksan has for years been considered the ‘roof’ of Seoul. From the Italian restaurant Bellino in Seongbuk-dong, you can enjoy the view of the peaceful recline of the northern side of Bukaksan, strewn with houses and villas – a rare scene in a city where high-rise apartments are the residential norm. For pleasure on the table, we recommend Bellino’s signature “Papoomza (pasta embraced in pizza).”

2. Hotel with a view – Grand Hyatt Seoul

Sitting on the southern side of Namsan mountain, the city view from Grand Hyatt is certainly worth every penny (of which you’ll have to spend quite a few to get a room on one of their club floors). What’s more, you’ll be enjoying the view in the luxurious comfort of your room or one of Grand Hyatt’s restaurants and lounges.

3. Pavillion with a night view – Eungbongsan

At 94m, Eungbongsan is perhaps more of a hill than a mountain located in Seongdong-gu. From a small pavilion on the top of Eungbongsan, however, you are sure to get the most breathtaking night view of Seoul. We often head to the pavilion after spending an afternoon in the nearby Seongsu-dong district. During the evening rush hour, you’ll be able to frame Han river with brightly-lit Donghodaegyo and Seongsudaegyo bridges as well as the long tails of red lights from commuting traffic.

4. Drink with a view – 123 Lounge @ Lotte World Tower

The latest addition to Seoul’s skyline has made a Guinness world record for having the world’s highest glass-floor observation deck on 118F. For our new favourite spot for an early-evening cocktail, however, you’ll need to take another lift up to 123F at the very top of Lotte World Tower. 123 Lounge offers a truly majestic view of Seoul with a tempting selection of drinks and light bites – not a bad way to wind down after a hectic day in the city!
